House finches used to dominate this feeder, and the hummers used it less as a result. I removed the perches and flowers from the feeding holes which made it difficult for the finches to perch. The hummers can still feed while in flight. Imagine my surprise when I saw a hooded oriole use it! They can perch on the edge and the feeding holes are now big enough for their beaks. I love this feeder!

The item came with no instructions on how to assemble it. A plastic coated wire was inside the container, which I guessed was to hang the feeder, but it was inadequate. The perch fit the bottom but did not attach....was loose and didn't stay put. I put the feeder together with the aid of super glue and some duct tape, and used picture hanging wire to hang the feeder. I would not recommend anyone buying this item. You can get one assembled already at Walmart.

I've been using this particular hummingbird feeder for several years now and my hummers love it because of the perches. They seem to hold up well even in the hot Florida sun. As a matter of fact, I just ordered two more to had to the collection.

The hummingbirds recognize this feeder right away (better than the saucer kind) but it started leaking after a couple months. Pretty unreliable.
