I've had a couple of these over the years and I would give them a solid reccomendation with one reservation, the foot bar that the birds stand on to sup will break after a couple years. A little super glue will fix this and I have gottten as long as 7 years wear from these. They are in my experience the best value for money when the cost is amortised over the length of service. They are also big enough that there is not the constant refilling that some of the rather minute feeders require, especially during the periods when the little birds have their feeding frenzies. If you are new to feeding the creatures,this one gets by best bet for ease of use, if you are an old hummer keeper, durability, price and year to year ruggednes recommend this one to you.

Glass is always better than plastic for these feeders but they could have made it easier to clean. Both the glass container and plastic bottom are needlessly difficult to clean adequately - the instructions warn against putting it in the dishwasher and hummingbird books warn against bleach. As an alternative, try to find the better glass feeder made by Best-1 in Texas. It's simple - looks like a one quart vinegar bottle with a metal strap and a simple plastic bottom that separates into two parts for easy cleaning. The sloping neck of the bottle is also easier to clean. Knowing what could have been easily done, makes the design of this Perky Pet feeder inexplicable. I should have listened to the reviewers who complained about the difficulty of cleaning.

We've had a very successful hummingbird season and our population has at least tripled this year. I'm feeding 40+ hummers daily and the smaller feeders just weren't adequate anymore. Some days I was refilling the feeders ever couple of hours and if I let the feeders get empty, these cheeky little birds would hover in the doorway and scold me! I saw the 30oz. feeders in action at a friends 4th of July BBQ and was most impressed, so I promptly ordered two.
They have been up for several days now, the birds transitioned to the new feeders seamlessly. While I'm still making 1.5 gallons of nectar a day, but I'm not filling the feeders as often - yeah! Then there is the added benefit of two additional feeding ports per feeder which increases the number of birds that use and linger at the feeders, so we're getting more hang -time and interaction with these fascinating little birds.
With the added capacity, ease of use and maintenance, I'm very happy with this purchase. Would highly recommend.

I have used three different feeders in the last two years. I was never completely satisified with any of them. So after reading the reviews, I went and ordered this Perky Pet 209. It truly is amazing to me the difference that this feeder has made. I have NEVER witnessed so many hummingbirds on one feeder. I highly recommend this product and am deeply greatful for giving me the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy viewing these amazing birds.
